One of those four teams brought home third place out of over 100 teams. Way to go Trailblazers!!!
If you are going to be a third or fourth grader next year, we hope you will join Battle of the Books. We have lots of fun and read some great books.

May 1, 2008 - First Reading on the Range (View event photos by clicking picture on left)
Holt Elementary recently blazed a trail by hosting our First Reading on the Range on Thursday, May 1, 2008.
Families were treated to hot dogs prepared by our Holt Dads in the Chuck Wagon Cafe.
Entertainment was provided by members of the Holt staff. Mr. Campbell and Ms. Atkins performed an animated reading of Gingerbread Boy Cowboy, Mrs. Ferrell and Company (The Three Little Javelinas) and a Sing-A-Long led by our music teacher Mrs. Barry and accompanied with vocals and instruments by our very own Principal Campbell, members of the Rotation team, Mr. Saenz, Mr. Ferrell, and Mr. Barry.
Thanks to Mrs. Ashbacher and the wonderful Literacy Night Committee for an exciting evening! |

Helping Blaze A Trail To A Cure
March 28, 2008 - Carol Holt Elementary's Relay for Life team, the Trailblazers, participated in Mansfield's Relay for Life walk on March 28. The Trailblazers worked very hard raising money to help fight cancer. Together with the support of the staff at Carol Holt, our family, and friends we raised almost $3000. We want to thank everyone for their help!

| Holt Elementary Adopts School Board Trustee Michael Evans |
January 29, 2008 - Governor Rick Perry proclaimed January 2008 as School Board Recognition Month to help build awareness of the crucial role an elected board of trustees plays in our communities and schools.
In honor of the month, School Board Trustee Michael Evans was adopted by Carol Holt Elementary. The staff welcomed Mr. Evans with a breakfast followed by an assembly to meet the students. Mr. Evans spoke to the students describing his job on the school board and gave them words of encouragement to take with them. "You are special," he said to the students. He encouraged them to strive to be whatever it was in life that they dreamed of becoming.
Students presented Mr. Evans with gifts that would make his visit memorable and staff followed with a grand tour of the building and a visit to every classroom.
Carol Holt Elementary wants to say, "Thanks to Mr. Evans and all the MISD school board members for what you do each day for our schools!"
