Annoucements/Welcome:

Hello!

We have some wonderful books and activities to share each week with the children.  Some of the books that I will be reading are part of the Texas Bluebonnet Association's reading program (for 3rd and 4th graders), and for the younger children we have the 2x2's (for Pre-K thru 2nd grade).  I will be sending home more information about these programs soon, but if you want like to start reading the Bluebonnets or the 2x2's, see the link below!

We are in need of parents to volunteer in the library.  Volunteers are welcome on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis.  Times are flexible as well as the amount of time you are able to donate.  Helping students find books, shelving books, pulling books for teachers, and/or working on special projects are some of the different tasks that we would love to have volunteers assist in completing. If you are interested, please contact Mrs. Campbell, the librarian, at 817-473-5679.  Your help is an instrumental part in the success of our children.

Also, we are proud to announce that Mrs. Campbell, the librarian, and Ms. Hart, our reading specialist, have won a grant!  It is called "L is for Library."  This grant, which is sponsored by the Mansfield Education Foundation, will help students learn early reading and library information skills through the use of alphabet carpet squares, alphabet teaching tubs, puppets, and technology.  We will be using these items

to learn basic reading skills during library time during the 2008-2009 school

year.  Thank you to the Education Foundation for helping us as we learn skills to become life long readers!

As we begin the 2008-2009 school year, I want to invite each of you to visit our library media center.  This year, our library program is promoting a love of reading. Through storytimes, the learning of library and information skills, and participating in reading incentive programs, our library media center's goal is for all students to become

life long learners and develop a love of reading.

Again, don't forget to READ every day with

your child!
