"When I discovered libraries, it was like having Christmas every day."

Readers of the Roundtable knight

Daulton's Readers of the Roundtable reading promotion has begun!  Readers of the Roundtable is a program at Daulton that encourages our students to read.  Any student in grades K-4 may participate in this program.  Readers of the Roundtable has three levels -- page, squire and knight.  To attain each level, students must fill the reading log they have been given with the number of books and books of the various genres specified on the reading log.  After they turning in their completed log to their teacher, the student receives a certificate recognizing the completion of that level, and a new reading log to work toward the next level.  Students will be recognized at each level with a certificate, and our "knights" will receive special recognition at the end of the year! Knights will also have their picture taken and placed on our Readers of the Roundtable board in the library hall.

Books read for Readers of the Roundtable may be library books (school or public), or books owned by family or friends.  Books logged may not be textbooks or leveled readers used in classroom instruction.  If your child is partipating in the Bluebonnet reading program, Book It, or some other type of reading program, you may log the books read for those programs on the Readers of the Roundtable log.  The goal is to keep our Daulton Dragons reading!

Please feel free to contact the Daulton Reading Teacher, Valerie Brookby, with any questions.  To download a copy of the parent letter about the Readers of the Roundtable program, please click here.

Library Information and Checkout :  Welcome to the Daulton Library Media Center!  I am Ms. Kostel, the Daulton Library Media Specialist, and I hope each of you will take an opportunity to stop by and see our beautiful library!

Our library is open from 8:00 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. daily.  Students in grades PK-4 may have one book checked out at a time.  All books may be checked out for one week, and may be renewed twice.  Classes visit our library weekly for instruction and checkout.  Students may also visit the library individually on a more frequent basis -- even daily!

Please help ensure your child is a good library citizen and returns their book on time.  Also, please make sure your child does not carry their library book in their backpack near their water bottle.  We have had several books ruined by leaking water bottles!
