Mansfield ISD Board President Raul Gonzalez earned the title of Master Trustee after completing a yearlong leadership program from the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB).
The designation is the highest recognition TASB offers through its Leadership TASB program.
Leadership TASB is a development program designed to take experienced board members to a new level of service and leadership by exposing them to a variety of issues, people, activities and locations. It is also an opportunity for school board trustees to work together to enhance school governance in Texas.
Sessions, led by nationally known speakers and experts in their field, rotate among different Texas cities and include visits to successful schools and innovative programs.
The 2017 class concluded on June 24 at TASB’s Summer Leadership Institute in Fort Worth.
“Raul loves being a Mansfield ISD board member. He has often stated to me that helping kids gives him tremendous joy,” said Mansfield ISD Superintendent Dr. Jim Vaszauskas. “Even though he has reached the pinnacle of being elected by his colleagues as board president, he continues to take steps to better himself as an advocate for the MISD community. My wife Cindy and I were honored to be in attendance when he was awarded the recognition of TASB Master Trustee.”
Leadership TASB graduated its first class in 1993. To date, more than 700 school board trustees from all over Texas have completed the program.
