The Mansfield ISD Power Up Program has been recognized as an Apple Distinguished Program for 2014 – 2016 for its groundbreaking use of innovative and inspiring teaching methods. The district's program launched in the fall semester of 2012 with the distribution of over 10,000 iPads to MISD high school teachers and students.
Thirty-four Mansfield ISD students participated in the 2014 District Spelling Bee on Friday, February 14 at the MISD Center for the Performing Arts. Each elementary, intermediate and middle school campus was represented with a student.
For the first time in the district spelling bee’s history, the event went past 20 rounds. The winning word “proficient“ was correctly spelled in Round 37 by eleven-year old, Gregory Dey (pictured), from Asa Low Intermediate School. Ruth Oyerokum, from Tarver-Rendon Elementary, won second place.
A huge congratulations goes out to Gregory Dey and all of the students who participated. Gregory will next participate in the Regional Spelling Bee on Wednesday, March 7 at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth.
