The halls of Ben Barber were filled with parents and students of MISD as they "Hip Hopped with Froggy" at the MAPSS (Mansfield Area Parental Support System) meeting last evening.

ESL Lead Teacher Ann McAskill came dressed as Finklehopper Frog to lead the children in literacy activities to promote reading and understanding in a science format. A great time was had by all!

  • What is M.A.P.S.S.? - Development started in March of 1999 with a cadre of teachers representing 11 school districts within the ESC Region XI area.
  • Why MAPSS? (Program Purpose) - To develop a parent education program designed to foster and enhance early reading development.

    - Support No Child Left Behind (NCLB)
  • When are the meetings? - The Program meets 4 times a year, on a Thursday evening, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
  • Where - Ben Barber Career Tech Academy
  • Who can come? - M.A.P.S.S. is for parents of children ages' birth - 4 th grade, attending school in the Mansfield Independent School District, although none will be turned away. (We have a Spanish Translator available.)
