1. In order to qualify for Special Needs transportation, the campus ARD committee must determine that special transportation is needed as a related service. The Transportation Department must have the “Transportation Request Form” filled out after the ARD meeting, which authorizes Special Needs Transportation services. All such student’s parent/guardian will be provided with our Special Needs Transportation Handbook.
2. Transportation service will start as soon as possible after the Transportation Office has received the form. The driver will contact the parent/guardian with the routing information.
3. The student should be ready to board the bus at the scheduled time. In order to maintain our schedule, bus drivers have been instructed to only wait at the pickup point for 2 minutes past the regularly scheduled time before leaving.
4. Student rider procedures and expectations will only be modified as specified on the student’s I.E.P and the Transportation Request Form.
5. Parents/Guardians should provide the campus ARD committee with all information pertaining to the student’s transportation needs. The ARD committee will provide the information to Transportation.
6. If there is a change in residency, the parents/guardians should promptly notify Transportation. Changes will be made as soon as possible, but the re-routing of buses may require several days’ notice.
7. Wheelchair or mobility devices: It is the parent’s/guardian’s responsibility to make sure the device is safe and in proper working order for use on the wheelchair lift and the bus. Every piece of the equipment must be properly attached and in good working order.
