Transportation :: School Bus Rider's Safety Handbook
[Expectations]
1. Student riders are expected to follow the guidelines of their Student Code of Conduct as well as the procedures contained in this handbook, and the instructions provided by the driver.
2. Only students who are eligible to ride may be transported.
- The designated pickup and delivery point for each student is the grade level bus stop closest to the student’s home.
- Any temporary changes of regular designated pickup or delivery points may be arranged by the parent/guardian writing a note to the campus administrator. The campus administrator will then sign or otherwise approve a bus pass to give to the bus driver. Temporary changes are subject to space availability.
- Any permanent changes must be made by the parent/guardian with the transportation office.
3 . Bus drivers have been instructed to approach regularly scheduled pickup points utilizing amber warning light signals (AWL). The bus will make a complete stop at the regularly scheduled time; the driver may then turn off the AWL and proceed to the next pickup point. Therefore, be sure that your student is at the pickup point; we suggest up to 5 minutes early.
4. It is the responsibility of the parent/guardian to provide transportation to school or home if a student misses the bus or if riding privileges are suspended.
5. Students and parent/guardian are expected to complete the School Bus Rider’s Contract (attached) and return it to their driver within three days of receipt. Failure to do so may result in loss of bus riding privileges.
6. Buses may be delayed at times.
- Due to obtaining necessary student information or conducting safety training evacuation drills.
- Due to any unsafe behavior that prohibits the driver from safely operating the school bus.
- Due to adverse weather or traffic events.
