Job Title: Student Nutrition Supervisor Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Primary Purpose:
  Responsibility includes the supervision, development, and training of Student Nutrition Managers, Manager Trainee's and Specialist. Responsible for the daily operations in the kitchens as assigned by the Director of Student Nutrition. Responsible for ensuring that all school facilities are in compliance with all local, state, and federal policies and procedures.
Qualifications:
  Education/Certification:
  High School Diploma or GED required
Food Managers Certification
  Special Knowledge/Skills:
  Knowledge of methods, materials, equipment, and appliances used in food preparation
Knowledge of quantity food production methods, procedures and personnel management
techniques
Effective planning and organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Knowledge of Microsoft compatible computer systems utilizing software for word processing,
spreadsheets, electronic mail and other food service software applications
Knowledge of the USDA Lunch and Breakfast program
Ability to manage personnel
  Experience:
  One to three years of single or multi-site management experience in a food service establishment.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  1. Daily satellite visits ensuring the daily operations of the student nutrition program are followed in conjunction with department, federal, and state regulations and procedures.
2. Identify the specific training needs of Managers, Manager Trainees and specialists, and implement a formalized plan.
3. Completes the TEA site reviews as required in a timely manner.
4. Develop short and long-term goals to create positive programs in training, food preparation and procedures.
5. Assist in the processing of the National School Lunch and Breakfast program meal benefit applications as may be required by the Director of Student Nutrition Department.
  6. Assist with the Director of Student Nutrition in the screening, interviewing and assigning of Student Nutrition personnel.
7. Monitor customer participation in accordance with the reports from each Student Nutrition site and make recommendations for menu selections based on findings.
8. Participate in the development and supervise staff development training programs for Student Nutrition Services.
9. Attend and participate in all meetings as scheduled by the Director of Student Nutrition Services.
10. Attend workshops, staff development sessions and other continuing education courses that will develop and maintain the Supervisor's professional credentials.
11. Perform other functions that may be assigned by the Administration and the Director of Student Nutrition Services.

  12. Ensure that food is produced safely and is of high quality according to policies, procedures, and department requirements.
13. Maintain accurate reports of daily and monthly financial, production, and activity records.
14. Follow all rules, regulations, and policies of Mansfield ISD.
  Safety
  15. Ensure that food items are stored in safe and hazard-free environment.
16. Establish and enforce standards of cleanliness, health, and safety following health and safety codes and regulations.
17. Maintain safe work environment.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  Supervise and evaluate Student Nutrition specialists and managers.
Equipment Used:
  Large and small kitchen equipment to include, but not limited to, an electric slicer, mixer, pressure steamer, deep-fat fryer, sharp cutting tools, ovens, braising pans, heat/hold units, ranges, dishwasher, steam jacket kettle, utility cart, computer hardware and software systems, and audiovisual equipment.
