Primary Purpose:
	Maintain safe and attractive grounds and landscaping for the district.
Qualifications:
	Education/Certification:
	Valid Texas driver's license High School Diploma or GED
	Special Knowledge/Skills:
	Ability to read and understand written instructions Ability to communicate (verbally) Ability to operate tractor and landscaping equipment Ability to operate riding or power mower, power tools, and hand tools Ability to attend school and seminars to obtain necessary license or certification
	Experience:
	Two years grounds maintenance or equipment operation experience, preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
	Maintenance and Repair
	1. Perform minor mechanical repairs on all equipment. 2. Perform all mechanical repairs on 2-cycle, 4-cycle and diesel engine equipment. 3. Maintain accurate and updated records of preventive maintenance. 4. Inspects all equipment and evaluates condition and services, as needed. 5. Service equipment according to preventive maintenance. Change oil filters, lubricate parts, inspect and replace blades, hoses, belts, batteries, and maintain all fluid levels. 6. Complete maintenance request (work orders) or task as requested by grounds supervisor.
	Safety
	7. Operate tools and equipment according to prescribed safety procedures. 8. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, climbing, etc. 9. Correct unsafe conditions in work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to supervisor immediately. 10. Help keep shop, equipment, and tools in safe operating condition. 11. Inspect and adjust tools and equipment for safety and efficiency and perform preventive maintenance as needed.

	12. Maintain accurate records of time and materials required to perform repairs and services. 13. Operate equipment as needed. 14. Pick up parts as needed or arrange for delivery.

Equipment Used:
	Tractor and associated attachments, riding and power mower, gas-powered weed trimmer, blower, edger, sprayer, striping machine, garden and hand tools, posthole auger and aerator. Operate ½ ton to 1 ton truck with trailer.

	Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and heavy lifting and carrying. Work outside and around moving objects or vehicles. Exposure to extreme temperatures, dust, chemicals (herbicides and fertilizer), and loud noises. Exposure to slippery and uneven walking surfaces. Frequent district wide travel.
