Primary Purpose:
  To direct the Student Services Department to ensure that the District's Student Code of Conduct and Campus Discipline Plan and special programs assist students in developing their skills to full potential.
Qualifications:
  Education/Certification:
  Master's degree
Administrator's certificate as per Texas Education Agency regulations
  Special Knowledge/Skills:
  Ability to interpret policy, procedures, and data
Strong communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
Thorough knowledge of hearing and appeals process

  Experience:
  Three years experience as a classroom teacher
Three years campus administrative experience

Major Responsibilities and Duties:
  Instructional and Program Management
  1. Act as an officer of appeals concerning student/parent complaints/grievances.
2. Coordinate implementation of the District's Student Code of Conduct and Campus Discipline Plan to support the educational goals of the District.
3. Serve as the District 504 Coordinator.
4. Serve as the District Title IX Coordinator.
5. Oversee and coordinate the District's Federal programs.
6. Oversee and coordinate the District's summer schools (elementary, junior high and high school) programs.
7. Coordinate the Drug-Free Schools Programs for the District.
8. Support principals and assistant principals in managing discipline and attendance cases including dropout and truancy issues.
9. Coordinate and approve in-district student transfers.
10. Coordinate and approve inter-district student transfers, as appropriate.
11. Handle special admissions issues including residency and guardianship approvals.
  Budget:
  12. Administer the budget and ensure that programs are cost effective and funds are managed prudently.
13. Compile budgets and cost estimates based on documented program needs.
  Policy, Reports and Law:
  14. Provide direction and support to campuses in PEIMS student information gathering, controlling, and submission.
15. Implement policies established by federal law and state law, State Board of Education rules, and local Board policy in the area of discipline and attendance.
16. Compile, maintain, and present all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
17. Ensure compliance with all time lines and procedures as set out in all Board policies concerning student/parent hearings/grievances.

18. Articulate the District's mission and goals in the area of discipline and attendance to the community and solicit community support in realizing the mission.
19. Demonstrate awareness of District/community needs and initiate activities to meet those identified needs.
20. Demonstrate the use of appropriate and effective techniques for community and parent involvement.
21. Demonstrate skill in conflict resolution with administrators, parents, teachers, staff, and community.
22. Provide for two-way communication with principals, teachers, staff, parents, and community.

  Supervise and evaluate the performance of support staff in the department.
