| Major Responsibilities and Duties: | |||
| 1. Work cooperatively with staff to select personnel for auxiliary
and paraprofessional assignments. 2. Brief new auxiliary and paraprofessional employees regarding benefits offered by the MISD and compute salaries. 3. Prepare payroll action forms indicating personnel changes, new hires, salary changes, transfers, etc. of all employee categories. 4. Keep records of auxiliary and paraprofessional allocations. 5. Under the guidance of the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, make written responses and hold hearings concerning the Texas Employment Commission on unemployment compensation claims. 6. Enforce termination guidelines with regard to possible hearings or grievances. 7. Ensure that employee handbooks are updated annually and distributed. 8. Assist in the preparing and developing the salary schedules each year to ensure they are updated and correct. 9. Prepare periodic reports for the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel regarding vacancies, turnover and allocation of auxiliary and paraprofessional personnel. 10. Oversee the maintenance of personnel files for all auxiliary and paraprofessional personnel. 11. Organize and manage the routine work activities of the Personnel Department. 12. Perform or oversee preparation of all necessary correspondence regarding paraprofessionals and auxiliary personnel. 13. Assist in policy making recommendations involving personnel to the Superintendent as needed. 14. Assist in the development of job descriptions and evaluation forms that are suitable for the District needs. 15. Have an understanding and working knowledge of the other job functions of the Personnel Department. 16. Assist in staff development activities for auxiliary staff (i.e., disciplinary actions, recording time sheets and absences). |
