The single most expensive commodity purchased by MISD is energy.  It is our goal to reduce and conserve energy to the maximum amount possible.  This can only be done with the assistance and cooperation of all district  personnel.  This will allow us to divert monies that would have otherwise been spent on energy for other, more high priority district needs.

The Facilities Department is responsible for developing and implementing a program to manage the consumption of electricity, natural gas, and water on a long-term and short-term basis. Key to this goal is the Energy Management System that links the heating system, and cooling systems of major buildings to a central computer. The EMS computer monitors mechanical and electrical systems in buildings.

Personal health and comfort should not be compromised in the name of energy conservation. Use all the energy you need but do not waste it.
