Facilities & Operations :: Utilities And Energy Management
The single most expensive commodity purchased by MISD is energy. It is our goal to reduce consumption and conserve energy to the maximum amount possible while still providing comfortable buildings with adequate lighting. This can only be done with the assistance and cooperation of all district personnel. In the big picture, energy conservation is critically important to our nation and the environment. At the local level, every dollar we can save on energy is a dollar that can be spent for other district needs.
The Facilities Department is responsible for developing and implementing a program to manage the consumption of electricity, natural gas, and water on a long-term and short-term basis. Key to this goal is the Energy Management System that links the heating, ventilation and cooling systems of major buildings to a central computer. The EMS computer monitors both mechanical and other electrical systems in buildings.
Personal health and comfort should not be compromised in the name of energy conservation. Use all the energy you need but do not waste it.
