Suzanne Stevens, an aide at Elizabeth Smith Elementary, received the latest Mansfield ISD Heartbeat Team Award during a surprise presentation at the school. Suzanne was selected for her great concern and efforts for her students through a challenging time.
District Superintendent Dr. Bob Morrison, along with Smith Elementary principal Rita Ashley and other campus and administrative personnel, surprised Suzanne at the school on Friday, April 23. Suzanne Stevens is the In-School Suspension (ISS) Aide at Smith Elementary.
An emotional Stevens had this to say after receiving the award, “I'm so blessed to work in this district, I am really grateful and appreciate this.”
According to the principal, Rita Ashley, Suzanne Stevens is genuinely concerned about the school overall and she has a positive impact on the school. Stevens oversees the Smith Elementary Team-Up on TAKS student mentoring program, the Campus Beautification group, the Watt Watchers (energy conservation program), and she even presents handwritten birthday cards for staff.
“Ms. Stevens is a wonderful person,” said Ashley. “She spreads a positive feeling throughout the school. It's contagious.”
A friend and former colleague expressed similar accolades for Stevens related to her dedication and positive impact.
“I've known Suzanne for over 14 years. She is an above and beyond person; friend, co-worker, anything you need, she's there. She cheers the faculty and students up. She is just a real positive spirit in this school,” said Pam Collins, Secretary to the Associate Superintendent of Human Resource Services.
The Mansfield ISD administration is proud to present the April 2010 Heartbeat Team Award to Suzanne Stevens for her amazing support of student success and campus culture at Elizabeth Smith Elementary.
