 The National Association for Bilingual Education will name Todd Butler, a fourth-grade dual-language teacher at Erma Nash Elementary, as its 2009 Bilingual Educator of the Year. He will be honored at the association's national conference in February as well as receive a $2,500 award.
“Todd cares deeply for his students and concentrates on being the best teacher he can be,” said MISD Bilingual/ESL Coordinator, Yvonne Davault. “His students and their parents appreciate and respect him because of his support and concern for each student..”
He was recently quoted in the Fort Worth Star-Telegram concerning this award:
“It is very gratifying to me to feel appreciated and recognized for what I do everyday,” said Butler, 38. “I wish that more of my colleagues had the opportunities to get the same kind of recognition because we all work very hard.”
