[October 15, 2007] Mansfield ISD to Host Emerging Technologies Seminar

Mansfield, TX – On Wednesday, October 17, Mansfield ISD will host a half-day Emerging Technologies Seminar for select school districts and local governments in the area to discuss energy efficiency technologies and practices. Oncor Electric Delivery, the local utility, is sponsoring five of these seminars in various areas in Texas from mid-October through early November as part of their energy efficiency programs.

Various school and city energy management, facilities/maintenance, and business/finance representatives in and around Mansfield have been invited to attend the free seminar at Mansfield ISD’s Maintenance Complex. It will showcase six energy efficiency technologies that are cost-effective opportunities to save money on utility bills, including lighting upgrades, geothermal heat pumps, and high-performance new construction practices.

Participants will learn how they can receive financial incentives from Oncor Electric Delivery through the Schools Conserving Resources (SCORE) and CitySmart Programs. Mansfield ISD is one of six school districts that has participated in Oncor’s SCORE Program since it began in early 2006. Incentives in these programs are paid by Oncor, with the Public Utility Commission of Texas providing the mechanism for calculating energy savings achieved. Schools and cities who participate in these programs are awarded incentive checks when projects are completed and the new equipment is inspected.

The seminar will be presented by Dale Stanton-Hoyle, Vice President of Engineering with CLEAResult Consulting, the firm that is administering the SCORE and CitySmart Programs. Dale has 26 years of experience in energy engineering and program management. He has developed energy master plans for private clients, managed engineering support teams for U.S. EPA's ENERGY STAR Buildings Programs, and directed international energy-efficiency teams.

“The SCORE Program will help our district and our community by saving money and conserving energy,” says MISD Director of Facilities & Operations, John Perdue. “The money we save can be reinvested directly into the classroom and by conserving energy we are setting a good example for students and teachers who are encouraged to conserve energy as well.”

“Oncor Electric Delivery is proud to sponsor a program that gives back to the community and conserves energy at the same time,” said Jeff Reed, SCORE and CitySmart Program Manager for Oncor Electric Delivery.  “We are committed to the future of our local communities and our children.”

Oncor Electric Delivery is an electric distribution and transmission business that provides power to more than three million homes and businesses and operates more than 115,000 miles of transmission and distribution lines in Texas.
