Timberview students turned Halloween into HOG-O-WEEN as they continued the campus tradition of HOG (Helping Others thru Giving) Week, a week-long fundraising campaign.
The students were supporting the 9-year-old son of a MTHS faculty member, Coach Marty Malone. Tyler Malone, a healthy, athletic fourth grade student, was in a four-wheeling accident in February 2007. Many surgeries later, Tyler and his family are still adjusting to his life as a paraplegic. Totaling hospital bills, wheelchair ramp installations, and many other new costs the Malone family is facing, as well as the All-Terrain wheelchair Tyler is wishing for, the total financial goal for this year's HOG Week was $15,000.
Updated November 2, 2007 - According to preliminary totals, MTHS HOG Week raised over $20,000.
Last year, the students raised $12,000 for the Make-A-Wish fundraiser in seven days and sent a local child with sickle-cell anemia to the Pro Bowl.
