MISD announces Veterans Day observances at various campuses:
Elementary Schools
Charlotte Anderson - November 12 - 8:00 AM observance at flag pole. Featuring the Summitt HS ROTC to present the colors, a song and morning announcements.
Marth Reid - November 9 - Veteran's Day Program at 9:00 AM - Our themes are "If It Is To Be, It Is Up To Me" and "We Are All Family". The children will be singing and dancing with colorful streamers to patriotic music. The campus has invited veterans and active military representatives, as well as police and firemen along with anyone else who serves in public service.
Roberta Tipps - 2nd Grade teacher Carol McKenna's students interviewed veterans, sSeveral of whom will talk to the class on Friday, November 9 during the following times - 8:15 AM, 10:30 AM, 11:00 AM, and 12:00 PM.
Intermediate Schools
Cross Timbers - November 12 Two programs (9:30 AM and 1:00 PM) featuring the Legacy HS Color Guard, CTIS Choir, Student Government, reading
bios from student family veterans, and guest speaker, Honorable
Bill Zedler, State Representative.
Middle Schools
Danny Jones - Veterans Day program November 12 at 10:15 AM
Brooks Wester - November 12 School-wide assembly at 9:20 AM with veterans as invited guests
Rogene Worley - November 8 a patriotic themed band concert and November 12 advisory activities and periodic announcements
High Schools
Alternative Education Center - November 12 activities 12:30 - 1:30 PM in the Alternative Ed Campus
Library. Two veterans have been invited to speak, plus a powerpoint slide show.
Mansfield Timberview - The AFJROTC Color Guard will represent the school on Saturday, November 10 by marching in the Ft Worth's Veteran's Day Parade in downtown Ft Worth. The parade starts at 10:15 AM Houston Street to 5th Street and then back up Main Street. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Timberview will participate in National Veteran's Awareness Week, November 12-16. Windows in the front of the school will be painted with yellow ribbon designs. Columns will be dressed with yellow ribbon. The names and pictures of faculty and student's immediate family members who are veterans or currently serving in the U.S. Armed Forces will be on display in the front of the building.
