| AUSTIN – Gov. Rick Perry appointed Dr. Edward C. Foster, Jr. of Hurst to the Texas Skill Standards Board for a term at the pleasure of the Governor. The board facilitates and promotes the use of industry–developed skill standards for major skilled occupations, such as machinists, database administrators and air conditioning technicians.
Foster is the Director of Career and Technical Education in Mansfield Independent School District. He serves as an advisory board member for the City of Hurst. Foster also serves as the President of the Career and Technology Educators of North Texas. He is a current member of the Association for Career and Technical Educators, Career and Technology Association of Texas, and North Central Texas Tech Prep Consortium. In addition, he is a member of Executive Board for InterLink, a Texas workforce planning organization. He also serves as the Treasurer for Rotary International and was awarded the Administrator of the Year Award in 2006 by the Texas Industrial Vocational Association. He participates in his local Meals on Wheels program. He received his Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of North Texas.
Foster replaces Beth Graham of Longview. His term expires at the pleasure of the Governor.
