The Texas Computer Education Association announces the selection of Deborah Andrews, librarian at Danny Jones Middle School, Mansfield ISD, as a finalist for the Librarian of the Year award. She was announced as one of three finalists at the TCEA annual convention in Austin, Texas in early February.
Andrews was selected by a committee of TCEA members from among the nominees. The Librarian of the Year recognizes a certified librarian who actively promotes the integration of technology in the Library Media Center and works collaboratively with administrators and teachers to promote and support the integration of technology throughout the curriculum.
TCEA chooses teachers and administrators from across Texas, based on their dedication to the integration of technology into the classroom curriculum, and honors them at its annual convention. Awards are presented to a classroom teacher, librarian, technology administrator, instructional technology specialist, administrator, superintendent and technical support person of the year. TCEA also awards scholarships every year to deserving teachers and students who desire to further their knowledge of technology education.
The winners and finalists were presented with plaques at a private awards ceremony and were also honored during the keynote session, both at the convention. The winner received $1,000 from TCEA and the two finalists each received $500.
The Texas Computer Education Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to furthering the integration of technology into curriculum and instruction. It has more than 9,000 members in the state of Texas.
More than 13,000 people attended this year’s convention. TCEA 2008 participants attended more than 500 educational sessions: 135 paid workshops and more than 300 free presentations. They visited a 700-booth exhibit hall displaying the latest in computer technology and educational software. TCEA hosted principals, superintendents, teachers, technology specialists, and curriculum specialists from across Texas and the nation, and even from other countries. |
