At the February Board Meeting, the MISD Board of Trustees named the principals for Mansfield Summit High School and Louise Cabaniss Elementary School.
Mansfield Summit High School

Lamar Goree has been named the next principal at Mansfield Summit High School. Goree has 12 total years in education as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal. He is currently the Principal at Mansfield ISD's Danny Jones Middle School. He taught math for two years in the Cobb County Public School System (GA) as well as two in the Fort Worth ISD before his Assistant Principal and Principal assignments with the FWISD. Goree will take over for Summit High School's Interim-Principal, Bob Currey who agreed to work this Spring at the campus following Donna Grant's mid-year departure.
“I am very excited about becoming a part of the tradition of excellence at Mansfield Summit High School,” says Goree. “As the principal, I look forward to working collaboratively with all the stakeholders to ensure that Summit is a high performing school where students are continuously engaged in activities that promote higher level thinking which results in students becoming responsible and productive citizens in this global, competitive and diverse society.”

Louise Cabaniss Elementary School

Gema Padgett will be the first administrator assigned to Cabaniss Elementary. Padgett has 17 total years in education as a teacher and assistant principal and is currently the Thelma Jones Elementary Assistant Principal. She taught seven years in Crowley ISD as well as five in Mansfield ISD before her Assistant Principal assignments. She has been the Assistant Principal at Alice Ponder Elementary, Mansfield Timberview High School (when the campus opened in 2004). Cabaniss Elementary School opens in August 2008.
“I look forward to creating the Cabaniss community of students, parents and teachers,” says Padgett of this new assignment. “Cabaniss will be a place where students love to learn, teachers love to work and parents love to visit. We are going to be Mansfield ISD's next great elementary.”
