Elizabeth Hostin, principal of Martha Reid Elementary School in Arlington, Texas, has been appointed to the Scholastic Book Fairs National Principals Advisory Board. She will serve a two-year term.
Comprised of 16 principals from public, private and parochial schools across the country, the board’s mandate is to help Scholastic, the global children’s publishing, education and media company, gain an insight into the needs, goals and expectations of principals and the challenges faced by teachers.
The advisory board, which meets annually and conducts quarterly phone workshops, will share ideas and knowledge to assist Scholastic Book Fairs in building an even stronger partnership with schools and students.
“We’re delighted to have Elizabeth on our advisory team,” said Alan Boyko, President of Scholastic Book Fairs. “She is widely respected inside and outside the classroom. We know that her enthusiasm and commitment to reading and learning will help us find even more ways to encourage kids to read.”
Hostin has been an educator for 25 years and has served as a principal for 8 years, including four years at Martha Reid Elementary School. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor of Education at Dallas Baptist University and is a member of the National Association of Elementary School Principals (NAESP) and the Texas Elementary Principals and Supervisors Association (TEPSA).
