Students compete in state art competition

Nine MISD high school students joined others from around the state displaying their work and honing their talent during the Texas Art Education Association/Visual Arts Scholastic Event (VASE) April 11-12 held at University of Houston-Clear Lake.

Students had the opportunity to not only exhibit their art, but also to discuss and analyze their work with art professionals. A panel of jurors evaluated each state entry to determine the degree that each work demonstrated originality of concept, technical expertise, understanding of the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS), and the interpretation of the student’s stated intent.
