| At the April 22 board meeting, trustees approved several hirings for and accepted some departures from the district.
The current Maintenance director Jeff Brogden (pictured at right) has been appointed to replace John Perdue. Brogden will be the new Director of Maintence and Operations. He has served four of his 22 years in education with MISD. He spent 18 years with Dallas ISD.
The board accepted the resignation of facilities director John Purdue, who is going to work for the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center as director of facilities and campus services.
Also leaving MISD is Susie DeFrank, the district's reading coordinator, who will retire this summer. DeFrank has been in MISD for 12 of her 35 years in education.
Trustees also hired Travis Moore (pictured at right) to be the new principal of Danny Jones Middle School. Current Principal Lamar Goree was recently named Summit High School's new principal. Moore is currently assistant principal at Jones. He has spent 13 years in public education.
In other related action: The Board approved 97 new growth positions for the 2008-2009 school year at a cost of $3.9 million. Of those, 20 are for the district's only new campus next year, Cabaniss Elementary.
