The Mansfield ISD School Board was named first in the nation in the 2006 Digital School Boards Survey by the Center for Digital Education.
The Digital School Boards Survey examines how school boards and their districts are applying information technology to better engage local communities and constituents, and improve service delivery and quality of education to public schools. MISD officials will accept the award Wednesday, November 8 in Dallas, Texas at the 2006 National School Boards Association’s T + L conference. The MISD Board will be recognized for their exemplary use of today's innovative online technologies.
MISD was evaluated among other school districts with 15,000 or more students. Other districts recognized in the Top Ten were Carrollton-Farmer's Branch from Texas and districts from Florida, Georgia, Kansas, North Carolina and Utah. "We are very proud of our District online offerings and are proud to receive this national recognition," said Terry Morawski, MISD Director of Communications. "The school board has been a driving force in the MISD's use of innovative online tools and web applications."
Just a few of the unique features available on the Mansfield ISD Web site are: community access to all sections of the board agenda [Board Docs] from home, Internet broadcast of board meetings, attendance zone and bus route locator, and the ability to review their child's grades and progress report through the eSembler online grade book program. The District has also taken on some impressive technology projects, the most noteworthy being the implementation of a paperless reporting and evaluation system for the Special Education Department.
Mansfield ISD is consistently rated as one of the fastest growing school districts in the state. The MISD has an enrollment of over 27,500 students and is expected to grow by nearly 10 percent each year. Mansfield ISD takes in 94.5 square miles and includes within its boundaries Mansfield, as well as sections of South Arlington, West Grand Prairie, Fort Worth, Rendon, Kennedale and Johnson County. |
