 The Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees approved a change to the 2007-2008 district calendar moving the May Holiday/Bad Weather Day #2 from Friday, May 2 to Friday, May 23.
The administration chose to recommend this adjustment in response to a change in the Student Assessment Calendar by the Texas Education Agency. The revised assessment calendar puts TAKS testing in Social Studies on Friday, May 2.
"While the TEA informed us that they would work with districts which had already adopted calendars for 07-08," says Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction, Dr. Claude Cunningham, "moving these tests to a later date would be very disruptive as AP exams begin on Monday, May 5."
The Board approved the recommended change in a unanimous vote during their regular meeting on Tuesday, July 24, 2007.
