[April 18, 2007] Middle School Students Receive College Scholarships |
Three MISD middle school students recently received a scholarship for when they attend college.
Usually high school seniors achieve such scholarships, but the Bobby Bragan Youth Foundation likes to recognize the achievements of eight-grade students. A scholarship awarded before high school helps introduces students to the scholarship process and motivate them to do well throughout high school.
Scholarship applications were made available through middle school English teachers and guidance counselors within the district. Each applicant had to complete an essay, and the top two were submitted from each individual school. From 108 participating schools, only 34 applicants were picked.
Congratulations to the following MISD students: Abbe Emerson from Danny Jones Middle School; Hadley Brown from Brooks Wester Middle School and Zachary Billings from Rogene Worley Middle School. Each student will receive a $2500 scholarship in their name upon completion of their senior year. |
