[October 24, 2005] MISD Named One of the Nation's Most Digitally Advanced School Boards

digital boardThe Mansfield ISD School Board was named as Fourth in the Nation by the Center for Digital Education. District officials accepted the award Thursday, October 27 in Denver, Colorado at the National School Board Association's Technology, Leadership and Learning(T+L2) Conference.

The MISD Board was recognized for their exemplary use of today's innovative online technologies. MISD was evaluated among other school districts with 15,000 or more students. Other districts recognized in the Top Ten were from Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, Nebraska, Illinois, and Florida. "This is really a tremendous honor for the District," said Terry Morawski, MISD Director of Communications. "The school board has been a driving force in the MISD's use of innovative online tools and web applications. Just to note a few additions to the Web site in the last year, a community member can now access all sections of the board agenda from home, watch a board meeting live online and look up their child's bus route or attendance zone on the Web."

Mansfield ISD is consistently listed as one of the fastest growing school districts in the state. The MISD has an enrollment of nearly 25,500 this year and is expected to grow by nearly 10 percent each year. Mansfield ISD takes in 94.5 square miles and includes within its boundaries Mansfield, as well as sections of South Arlington, West Grand Prairie, Fort Worth, Rendon, Kennedale and Johnson County.
