At the February Board Meeting, the MISD Board of Trustees named five new principals, four of which will administer MISD's four new schools opening in fall 2006.
James L Coble Middle School - Derrell Douglas will be the first administrator assigned to Coble Middle School. Currently, Douglas is a principal of Nichols Jr. High in Arlington ISD. For the past 14 years, Douglas has fulfilled the role of teacher, coach, assistant principal and principal of Nichols Jr. High. Douglas received his Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and Teaching Certificate from the University of North Texas in 1992. In 1999, he received his Masters of Education from the University of Texas at Arlington [UTA], and later in 2004 he completed the Superintendent program from UTA. Douglas' contract is expected to begin in July 2006.
Mary Lillard Intermediate School – Donna O'Brian will take the lead at the new Mary Lillard Intermediate School. Currently, O'Brian is a principal at Cross Timbers Intermediate School in Mansfield ISD. O'Brian has worked for MISD as an assistant principal of T.A. Howard Middle School and Summer School Principal for grades seventh through eighth. She received her Bachelors in Business Administration, from the University of Texas at Arlington, and her Masters in Educational Administration, from Texas Christian University. O'Brian's contract is expected to begin in July 2006.
Cross Timbers Intermediate School – Gerald Kokenes will be taking over the lead at Cross Timbers Intermediate School. Kokenes has worked for Mansfield ISD since 2001. Currently, Kokenes is an assistant principal at Rogene Worley Middle School. Kokenes has also worked for Arlington ISD, Killeen ISD, Lockheed Martin and served in the United States Army as a Colonel and Director of Logistics. He received his Bachelor of Science in Math and his Masters in Education Administration, from Sam Houston State University. Kokenes' contract is expected to begin in July 2006.
Anna May Daulton Elementary School – Erwann D. Wilson will be the first to guide the pioneering Anna May Daulton Elementary School. Wilson has worked for Cypress Fairbanks ISD since 1983. Currently, Wilson is a principal at Metcalf Elementary in Cypress Fairbanks ISD in Houston, Texas. She received her Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education and Masters of Education at Prairie View A&M University. In 1998, Wilson spent the summer at Harvard University at the Harvard Principal's Center. Wilson's contract is expected to begin in July 2006.
Cora Spencer Elementary School – Dr. Tammy Rountree will be the first administrator assigned to Cora Spencer Elementary School. Dr. Rountree has worked for Mansfield ISD as a principal of Charlotte Anderson Elementary. Currently, Rountree is an assistant superintendent of curriculum and instruction at Keller ISD. Overall, Dr. Rountree has been among the public school system since 1981. Her education background includes: a Bachelor of Arts from the University of Texas at Arlington, Masters of Education from the University of North Texas and Education Doctorate from Baylor University. Dr. Rountree's contract is expected to begin in July 2006.
