FYI Right now, there are a limited number of three and four year old childcare spaces available. Please, call Sherry Carson at 817.299.1934 or e-mail at ctachildcare@mansfieldisd.org if you have questions regarding current enrollment for the MISD Children’s Center. We want to thank our current parents for the wonderful word-of-mouth advertising. Your faith and trust in our Children’s Center is greatly appreciated.

Sherry Says…Our school believes that active learning should be and can be fun learning. Letter recognition, reading readiness including shapes, sizes, and colors are a major part of our daily curriculum. It is my opinion, that counting by rote to one hundred is not useful information or much fun for any age. However, counting pom poms and sorting by color or size with chopsticks can be great fun.

Ms. Melanie is our Lead Instructor and joins the teams with preparing age appropriate activities and lesson plans. The weekly Lesson Plans are posted so that parents can check out what their children are doing from day to day.

During our summer break, some of the teachers attended another Classroom Management class and had a great time at the Fort Worth Zoo during an Aquatic Project WILD session. In August, the entire staff updated our CPR/1st Aid for infants and children and took two days to attend Positive Beginnings: Supporting Young Children with Challenging Behavior at Region XI. Busy, busy summer!

The Pre-Kindergarten classroom, with Ms. Michelle and Ms. Lisa, will continue moving forward on their socialization and self-help skills they covered  in August. Our Pre-K Staff have received many hours of training in the practical applications of Handwriting Without Tears, Classroom Management for Pre-K’s, and Literacy and Phonemic Awareness.

Ni Hao! Ms. Lisa is continuing her own variation of “Intro to Foreign Languages” portion of the daily routine with ongoing Spanish lessons and the “Hello/Goodbye Song” in multiple languages.

The Three’s/Four’s classroom will be moving ahead with their own learning milestones including cooperative play and self-help skills. The learning of social interactions or “learning to play well with others” is truly a life skill. Our self-help routines are especially important to encourage the three and four year olds to develop their own sense of independence and self-esteem.

Ms. Karen and Ms. Sharon have lots of experience working with this age group and their Lesson Plans reflect those skills.
