Lesson: How to set StarOffice to always save as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
(After doing this ITSie BIT, StarOffice AND Microsoft will be able to open your documents.)
 
  1. Open StarOffice
  2. Go to Tools > Options.
  3. Click the "+" that is in front of Load/Save.
  4. Highlight General (see screen shot below).
 
     5. Click the drop-down under "Always save as" and select Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP.
 
 
 
     6.  Select Spreadsheet under "Document type" AND select Microsoft Excel 97/2000/XP under "Always save as."
 
 
      7. Select Presentation under "Document type" AND select Microsoft PowerPoint 97/2000/XP under "Always save as."
 
 
8. Click OK.
