ACCEL :: How Are Students Identified?

Students are identified for the gifted & talented education program through a four-step process:

  • Referral

  • Screening

  • Nomination

  • Selection and placement

The final selection for placement is made by a campus committee of at least four campus educators who have received a minimum of 30 hours of gifted education training.

Screening for gifted and talented education involves the analysis of a variety of data. At least three assessment tools are used in the evaluation of each referred student to obtain an individual student profile.

Assessment instruments may include ability and academic performance tests, teacher and parent checklists, student products and performances.
