Worley Middle School Athletics
Information

Goal and Expectations
The goal of the athletic program at Worley is to help in the development of young people. We want to teach skills and knowledge of sports, but most importantly, we want to teach discipline, responsibility, respect, and commitment to the team.
Participation in the athletic program at MISD is a privilege and as such, the student athlete is held to a much higher standard than that of the general school population; therefore, the guidelines and rules that each coach sets for the team will be stricter in nature than those in the Student Code of Conduct.

(Volleyball, Cross Country, Basketball and Football all practice before school. All other sports listed will practice after school.)

Placement on Teams
In order to earn a place on a team, an athlete is given a 5 day tryout period involving athletic and sport-specific skills. The number of members on the team is not restricted in football or cross country, but will be in all other sports. Admission to athletics is not required to tryout, however, every effort is made to have students participating in football, volleyball, cross country, basketball and track enrolled in the athletics class. Students involved in tennis and golf do not need to be in athletics.

Criteria for 7th Grade Athletics

1. Parental permission.
2. Must have a physical exam and notarized emergency card in order to participate in athletic class.
3. Submit an Application for 7th Grade Athletics. (All applications will be handed out by current PE teacher and due to their PE teacher by Monday, April 28th.)

Completion of the above will not guarantee admission into 7th Athletics class. Factors such as class size, scheduling, sports of interest, and recommendations of teachers and coaches may also be considered.
