Tiger News Senior K. Grady Commits to Texas Tech University (11/11)- The 4-year letterwinner will sign a letter of intent on Wednesday 11/11/09. The long-hitting senior has improved her game over the past 2 years and caught the eye of new Texas Tech Women's golf coach JoJo Robertson. Grady will be the 2nd Texas Tech signee in the past 10 years. Former MHS star Megan Hull played at Tech from 2001-2005. Varsity Places 7th at North Texas Interscholastic (10/31)- Shooting its best score of the season, the Lady Tiger Golf team could only manage a 7th place finish at the Old Brickyard in Ferris, Texas. MHS, playing the host of the event, shot 322-321-643 in a star-studded field. Allen High School posted 566 to win the tournament that featured teams from Houston, College Station, Victoria along with the best in the DFW metroplex. Senior K. Grady led the team with a 155 total, A. Bartholomew (157), D. Dawson (166), L. Brice (167) and A. Leasor (182) made up the team. Freshman J. White had a career best round of 78 on Day 2 while finishing with a 169 total. Sophomore T. Coursey played as a medalist and posted 192. Varsity Gold "Sloshes" Way to 3rd Place at AHHS Invitational (10/13)- The Lady Tiger Gold team battled the rain all day long en rout to a comforting 3rd place finish at Pecan Valley GC. Led by newcomer J. White's top 5 finish, MHS earned a 2nd consecutive 3rd place trophy. Other members of the team were soph. T. Coursey, and freshmen K. Skelley and K. Long. Varsity Places 3rd at Granbury (10/10)- K. Grady fired a 2nd round 74 to help MHS finish 3rd at the Lady Pirate Invitational at Harbor Lakes Golf Club. The senior knocked off 11 strokes day 1 and earned her 2nd consuecutive top 10 finish. Jr.s L. Brice and A. Bartholomew posted a pair of 79's as the Ldy Tigers fired a season low 316 on Saturday. This is the lowest team score since the 2006 state finalist team. Friday's round of 338 was solid despite playing in the cool drizzle and wind. MHS trailed Creekview and Heritage by double digits, but matched both opponents scores on the final round. Sophs. A. Leasor and D. Dawson continued to put up better numbers, finishing with 168 and 171 respectively. Soph. T. Coursey, playing as a medalist shot 188. MHS takes on the best teams across the state at The Old Brickyard as they co-host the first annual North Texas Girls Intercollegiate on 10/30-10/31. Lady Tigers Finish 5th at Lubbock (9/26)- Senior K, Grady shot 2-under par 70 at the Texas Tech Rawls course and followed her best career round up with a solid 1-over par 73 at Shadow Hills GC to win individual honors at the Red Raider Classic. Grady's 1-under par overall total was 8 shots better than the nearest competitor. Junior L. Brice posted a 79 on day 2 and soph. A. Leasor, S. Fulton and D. Dawson shot 82, 85 and 86 on day two of the tourney to help MHS capture 5th overall in a field that featured the top 5 teams in region 1-5A. These 4 players were playing in their first "top 5" event as a Lady Tiger and competed well for MHS. The varsity squad will travel to Granbury in 2 weeks to play in the Lady Pirate Invitational. JV competes at Legacy Challenge (9/22)- The Lady Tiger JV golf team got its first taste of high school golf as a host of 5 freshmen competed against varsity teams from the metroplex. K. Skelley, K. Marinez, Ka. Stelter, Ke. Stelter and N. Harkins represent MHS at the event. K. Skelley led the team with 98, while the other girls showed promise in the rainy, cold conditions.
