TIGER JV FINISHES FALL UNDEFEATED!  Not only did the Tiger JV teams go undefeated, they closed out the fall with a "Tiger Trifecta" by placing 1st, 2nd and 3rd at the annual ShootOut at Mansfield held at Walnut Creek CC on Monday 11/09.  The MHS White team shot a record tying 301 and just edged the MHS Black team by 1 shot, while the MHS Gold team fired 307.  Senior C. Grimm shot 1-over par 72 to tie for 1st overall.  Freshman A. Garcia (73) placed 3rd and fellow freshman A. Wright (74) place 5th.  The White team earned the gold over the senior team of  C. Grimm, Z. Collier (77), R. Pawlowski (78), J.Gillespie (78)and P. Harman (75). Garcia and Wright, along with other white team members freshman W. Clark (78) and sophomores T. Gilliam (81) and B. Ellis (76) showed a glimpse of the bright Tiger golf future.  The Gold team consisted of juniors T. Williams (81), K. Middleton (76), Z. Lawless (75), H. Woody (77)and sophomore S. DePuma (77). 

TIGER JV TEAMS RAINED OUT (10/26)- both the JV-2 and JV-3 teams were rained out at the Midlothian Panther Putter and the Kennedale Fall Frolic.  Rescheduling isTBA.

TIGERS WIN TIGER CLASSIC (10/24)The varsity boys won its first team title of the fall season in College Station.  Senior G. Yates fired a 4-under 68 on day 2 and jr. K. Crawford played two solid round on their way to a tie for 1st place overall in the indivdual race.  Other members of the team were seniors Z. Collier and C. Leasor and freshman H. Make it 5-In -Row for the Sub Varsity Teams! (10/20)-  Led by junior A. Ariens 74 at the difficult Sky Creek Ranch Golf Club, the Tiger JV glf team continued its remarkable success this fall by winning the Keller Varsity Invitational.  The JV-1 team shot 310 and won the event by 10 strokes over all other varsity teams.   While Ariens was the overall winner, junior K. Middleton (78) and sophomore S. DePuma (78) both placed in the top 10.  Other members of the team were senior J. Gillespie (85) and freshman A. Garcia (81).

JV Boys Win 4th Consecutive Tournament (10/15)The MHS JV-3 team posted a 307 on its way to a convincing victory at the Ennis Lil' Man held at The Old Brickyard in Ferris, Texas.  Junior T. Williams fired +3 73 to earn bragging rights as individual champion.  Freshman newcomer W. Clark post 77, earning him the bronze individual medal.  Junior H. Woody (78)and sophomore T. Gilliam (79) earned top 5 finishes.Other Senior R. Pawlowski (86) also contributed to the winning team score.

Senior R. Pawlowski Elected President of the MHS Athletic Council (10/24)-  R. Pawloski was elected president of the MHS Athletic Council  by his peers.  Pawlowski heads a group of student-athletes that are commited to bring spirit to the school and providing community servive to various organizations throughout the Mansfield Independent School District.  Coach Kim Oliphant is the organization's sponsor.

JV Teams Break JV Team Scoring Record at P-Valley (10/13)- With such a talented freshman class, the JV-1 Tigers leaned on frosh A. Garcia and his 1-under par 69 to lead MHS to a 1-2 sweep of the YellowJacket JV Stinger.  Garcia's individual score is a new JV team record and the team's 301 broke the recored set just weeks ago.  Not to be outdone, senior J. Gillespie posted his career best round as a Tiger with a even par-70 and led his team JV-2 team to the 2nd place trophy.  Members of the JV-1 team, along with Garcia, were senior Z. Collier (77), juniors K. Middleton and Z. Lawless (79's), and sophomore S. DePuma (76).  Gillespie's JV-2 team included seniors P. Harman (77), C. Grimm (79), sophomore B. Ellis (83) and freshman A. Wright (79). 

Tigers Dry Out; Tie for 1st at the prestigious Fall State Preview (10/10)-  With the first round of the tourney cancelled, MHS used the idle time to hone their short games and prepare for round two.  Sr. G. Yates shot 1-under par and K. Crawford carded an even par 72 at Jimmy Clay GC in Austin to position MHS in a tie for the coveted title.   The Tigers fired 295 as a team and tied with 4A  dynasty Highland Park.  The tie was settled by counting the 5th team player's score.  Highland Park nudged out MHS by 3 shots as MHS posted 82 in the 5-hole vs. HP's 79.  Sr. C. Leasor continued to show his ability with a solid 76, while freshman H. Frederick continued to impress his teammates, coaches and opponents with a competitive 76.  Jr. A. Ariens posted 82 on the course that hosts the 5A State Championship in May.  The MHS varsity golf team returns to the links in College Station at the Tiger Classic on 10/24-10/25 .

9/28  Tiger JV Dominates Ben and Byron Classic-  Jr. H. Woody posted a 74 to lead the JV-3 team to a 2ndplace finish at the 2nd Annual Ben and Byron at Glen Garden CC.  The JV-2 team won the tourney with a 307 total, edging the JV-3'ers by 10 strokes.  MHS continued to dominate the leaderboard with a 2nd place individual finish by freshman A. Garcia. 

9/23  Tiger JV Wins 1st Tournament of the 2009-2010 year-  Soph. B. Ellis posted a +3 74 at the challenging Fort Worth Meadowbrook layout leading the JV-1 squad to a 34 shot victory over Martin High varsity. S. DePuma, Z. Collier, A. Wright and K. Middleton all had top 10 finishes.   MHS just missed a JV school record by 1 shot with the 306 total.

9/18  Tigers Start Out Fall Season Strong-  MHS finished 5th place out of 52 teams at the Bart Granger Invitational in Fort Worth.  The "Granger" as it is affectionately known, is the largest high school golf tournament in the world.  The Tigers got off to a slow start on Day 1, but rallied on the 2nd 18 hole round to put themselves in contention for the the championship round on Day 2.  Led by A&M signee senior G. Yates, MHS posted a 2 over par 282 on the River Course to pass 7 teams and stand 5th after the 36 hole Day 1.  K. Crawford got it going with 2 consecutive rounds of even par 70 and finished 8th overall.  Sr. C. Leasor played consistent and jr. A. Ariens and fr. H. Frederick pitched in to help the Tigers finsish strong.  MHS takes to the links on Oct. 9-10 at the Sate Preview in Austin.  MHS returns to the course in which they finished 3rd at last year's State Championship.
