On Tuesday, November 8, the Mansfield ISD community approved the District's $198.5 million bond proposal 55% to 45% according to unofficial election results posted by officials from Tarrant and Johnson Counties.
“I would like to thank the community for the continued support of MISD,” said Dr. Bob Morrison, superintendent of schools. “While we are certainly pleased with these results, the next step will be to put together a comprehensive plan for implementation. We will make sure that our plan is realistic and causes minimal disruptions to the instruction process.”
The approved bond will affect all campuses in some capacity including completely rebuilding J.L. Boren, Alice Ponder, Glen Harmon, Charlotte Anderson, and Tarver-Rendon Elementary Schools. Additionally, the bond will allow MISD to upgrade safety and security systems at existing campuses as well as upgrade existing technology to expand the learning environment at all campuses. Mansfield ISD will also address aging campuses and infrastructure to provide an equitable learning experience across all campuses, improve energy efficiency, reduce operating costs and increase the life expectancy of existing facilities.
The Mansfield ISD Board of Trustees will certify the election results at an upcoming called meeting on Friday, November 18, 2011. |
