[January 27, 2011]
Ben Barber DECA had a record-breaking year at the Regional competition January 22 in Frisco, taking home 24 wins. A total of 1,248 DECA students from across North Texas gathered to compete in Marketing, Business and Entrepreneurial events. Of the 29 Ben Barber competitors, 26 will advance to the 2011 Texas DECA State Career Development Conference (CDC) February 24 – 26 in Fort Worth.
The DECA students prepared for the competition by studying courses such as Marketing Dynamics and Business Management, as well as rigorous testing, report-writing and presentation development.

DECA helps students develop skills for successful business careers while gaining valuable leadership experience.
Kelly McQuesten, a senior from Legacy, served as President for District 7 of DECA this year, along with Maliz Mahop, a senior from Timberview, who contributed as Secretary. Another Ben Barber DECA student, Jordan Robinson, will soon initiate a campaign for 2011 – 2012 Texas DECA President. We wish Jordan the best of luck on his speech at the Texas DECA CDC in February.
