Students from the Ben Barber Career Tech Academy BPA chapter will represent Mansfield ISD at the Business Professionals of America 2011 State Leadership Conference, in Fort Worth, Texas, March 2 – 5, 2011.
Ben Barber chapter members, Rachel Campbell and Vocany Pitia, both from Timberview High School, Clark Navidad, Summit High School and Mike Kojder, Katherine Henz and Sean Donohoo, all from Legacy High School, will join over 2,500 other conference delegates from across the state to participate in state level business skill competitions, general sessions, and the state officer candidate campaigns and elections. Besides having the opportunity to excel, they’ll experience Fort Worth as they visit the city’s exciting sites.
The Texas Association’s Regional Leadership Conference was held in Springtown on January 22, and the following shows the results for Mansfield ISD students.

Vocany Pitia, 2nd in VB.net Programming and a state qualifier

Jacky Sitzman, 6th in Medical Office Procedures and a state alternate
Julia Bazaldua, 7th in Prepared Speech
Sean Donohoo, 8th in Java Programming

The conference emphasizes business workforce education and training which members of the local chapter of Business Professionals of America at Ben Barber Career Tech Academy have received,” said chapter advisor, Susan Sevier, who teaches all levels of Computer Programming and Video Game Design.
Business Professionals of America is a national organization for middle school, high school, and college students preparing for careers in business and office occupations. The organization’s activities and programs complement classroom instruction by giving students practical experience through application of the skills learned at school.
