MISD announces Veterans Day observances at various campuses:
Elementary Schools
Martha Reid Elementary – Reid Elementary will hold its annual Veteran's Day program on Wednesday, November 11. It will start at 9:00 AM , in the front of our building - the Country Club side. The entire school is involved and they have special heroes coming, including veterans and active military along with community service people such as police, firefighters, doctors, nurses and etc.
Anna May Daulton Elementary – The Daulton campus will recognize Veterans Day.
They sent home forms for students to complete with a Veteran they would like to honor on display in the cafeteria.
On Tuesday, announcements about Veteran's Day, patriotic music, and encourage everyone to wear Red, White, and Blue on Wednesday, November 11.
On Wednesday, the entire student body will meet in front of the school at 8:05 AM for a flag ceremony by the school's Boy Scouts and a moment of silence.
D.P. Morris Elementary – The school will be conducting a “Patriot Project” at D.P. Morris this year. Starting Tuesday, Nov. 10, each classroom will begin the process of adopting a troop and sponsoring a collection of items to send to troops abroad. While the final picture opportunities may not occur until after Thanksgiving when their boxes are mailed, they plan to take pictures and will send, once they conclude this project.
“I believe it is a message worth sending to our students and support that will be extended to our families for the sacrifices that are made for us each day,” said Morris principal, Debbie Clanton.
Tarver-Rendon Elementary – The school will honor Veterans at 10:30 AM, at the flag pole on Wednesday, Nov. 11. Their 4th grade classes will participate in this event, and they have invited all Veterans to attend.
Intermediate Schools
Cross Timbers Intermediate – The school will hold two Veteran's Day programs, 9:30 AM and 1:00 PM featuring speeches by on-campus teacher veterans. The choir will perform and there will be a posting and retiring of the colors.
Middle Schools
Linda Jobe Middle – Jobe has invited parents, family and friends, from all branches of the military to join for a breakfast to be served at 8:45 AM, by the PTA and then a program in the gym to begin at 9:15 AM The band and choir will perform and the program will be presented by the Student Council.
Brooks Wester Middle – Veteran's Day Program scheduled to start at 9:30 AM.
High Schools
Mansfield Summit - The JROTC Jaguar Battalion will be conducting a formal Flag Retirement Ceremony on Nov. 11 at 5:00 pm in front of Summit. This ceremony is open to the public and will be held to formally retire unserviceable U.S. flags. If you have any unserviceable U.S. flags, they would be honored to properly dispose of your flags. Send/bring them to Summit HS, ATTN: Major Fry.
Mansfield – Junior ROTC cadets will be marching through the downtown Fort Worth Veterans Day Parade.
Mansfield Timberview – AFROTC students will march in the downtown Fort Worth Veterans Day Parade.
