Alexander Mahoney, a junior at Mansfield High School, has been named a 2007 ACTR Russian Scholar Laureate. The ACTR, or American Council of Teachers of Russian, is a division of the American Councils for International Education.
He was chosen along with a select group of Russian students from around the country by their teachers and principals as the most outstanding Russian student of 2007 at their schools. This recognition is also the first to be awarded to a student of Russian in North Texas.

Alexander received a letter of commendation, a certificate of award, and a golden Russian Scholar Laureate
lapel pin.
Mahoney and his MHS Russian teacher, Mr. E.B. Holschuh, were recognized in the Fall 2007 issue of the ACTR Letter, the newsletter for the ACTR.
At the September 25, 2007 regular School Board Meeting, Alexander received a Board Commendation.
