 On February 2, students from Ben Barber Career Tech Academy (BBCTA) represented Mansfield ISD in the District Seven UIL DECA Competition. District Seven is known as one of the largest districts in the state with over 2000 members. DECA is a student-run organization for students enrolled in marketing classes at the high school level. Over 1200 students competed for the right to advance to the state level competition, which will be held in Corpus Christi at the end of February.
BBCTA had 18 students win in 23 areas and will advance on to the state level with hopes of advancing to the National level in May. The students were required to pass a rigorous written exam and then compete in a role-play competition in front of industry judges.

The students are beginning to prepare to compete in the state of Texas February 28, 2008 in Corpus Christi with the hopes to going on to Internationals in Atlanta, GA in May.
The students will hold a pasta dinner on February 19 at Ben Barber to help raise money for their State Competition.
