Cross Timbers Intermediate School and Mary Orr Intermediate School were recently recognized by Standard & Poor's for narrowing the achievement gap statewide. Mansfield ISD, along with Katy and Tomball ISD, were the only three districts in the state to have more than one school recognized for narrowing at least one achievement gap between student groups.
In order to be identified by Standard & Poor's, school districts had to show a higher percentage of students that scored proficient or above on the state's reading and math tests of the course of two years when compared to other school districts with similar levels of economically disadvantages students.
"We are extraordinarily proud of these two campuses," said Dr. Claude Cunningham, Associate Superintendent of Curriculum and Instruction. "They have made significant progress toward accomplishing one of the most important tasks of facing not only our district, but also facing every district in the state of Texas, and that accomplishment is to have every child achieve at very high levels."
