The Texas Association of School Business Officials [TASBO] congratulates Lou Spiegel, Associate Superintendent for Business & Governmental Relations at Mansfield ISD, on her nomination for the 2007 Commitment to Excellence Award. This award is the highest honor bestowed on TASBO members by their peers, and was presented during the 61 st Annual Conference and Exhibits at the Dallas Convention Center on February 15, 2007. Each fall, TASBO research committees and affiliate organizations recommend nominees for this award. Those nominations are forwarded to the TASBO board of directors, who vote for the winner in a blind process based on the nominees' commitment to TASBO, the profession of school business and operations, and to the community.
A certified public accountant, Spiegel has been in school business management for 22 years. She often shares her expertise as a presenter for TASBO and various other state and professional organizations. Spiegel was elected to a three-year term on the TASBO Board of Directors in 1996 and was appointed to the Governmental Relations Standing Committee in 2003. In addition, she is active in many community groups including the MISD Education Foundation, the Arlington Chamber of Commerce and the Lamar Baptist Church in Arlington.
