At the January 23, 2007 school board meeting, the MISD school board approved the following two new employees for Mansfield Legacy High School.
 LHS Athletic Coordinator and Head Coach – Chris Melson will be the first athletic coordinator and head football coach assigned to Mansfield Legacy High School. Melson comes to Mansfield ISD from Electra ISD, where he was the athletic director and head football coach of Electra High School. The former starting wide receiver for University of Oklahoma led Electra to the playoffs for the first time in 17 years. Prior to Electra, Melson taught and coached football and track at Rockwall High School for eight years. Some accomplishments at Rockwall High School included leading the Girls Track team as District Champs for four consecutive years. Melson received his Bachelor of Business Administration, Management from the University of Oklahoma in 1992, and his certification in Secondary Education, Business at East Central University. In addition, the Ada High School graduate led his team to the State Championship in 1986.
 LHS Band Director – Glenn Fugett will take the lead as the first Band Director at Legacy High School. Currently, Fugett is the Associate Director of Bands at Westlake High School in Austin, Texas. For the past 15 years, Fugett has been in charge of the Marching Band, Symphonic Band I, Jazz Ensembles and A.P. Music Theory class. A couple of Fugett's accomplishments include, first place 5A second band at the South Coast Music Festival in Corpus Christi, 1999, 2004 and 2006. He has also assisted in preparing Wind Ensemble for Midwest for the American Bandmasters Association Convention in 2006. In 1986, Fugett received his Bachelor of Music from The University of Akron in Akron, Ohio.
Mansfield Legacy High School will be the districts fourth high school, and will open its doors in the fall of 2007. David Wright, a former Assistant Principal from Mansfield Summit High School, will be the schools first principal. The schools mascot and colors are the red, black and silver Legacy Broncos.
