Sandip Burman, an accomplished tabla player, visited Mansfield Summit High School on December 8, to perform and host a musical clinic for sixty students.
Burman is considered to be one of the greatest tabla performers in the world and has made a name for himself as a player with blinding speed and crisp, clear precision. His vast repertoire, flexibility and creativity have enabled him to play jazz and world music in addition to traditional Indian classical music. (Tabla is a set of two small tuned drums used in North Indian music.)

His work is featured on the soundtrack of Tim Burton’s “Mars Attacks” and on the album Global Fusion from Warner Brothers. Burman has also been a visiting faculty member at Rotterdam Conservatory in Holland and he has toured and taught in the United States, Europe, Mexico, North Africa, Israel and Canada.
