The MISD Board of Trustees named David Wright as the new principal of Mansfield Legacy High School at the January Board Meeting. Wright's contract will start in July 2006. “I am looking forward to working with students and parents alike in the creation of Legacy as a school in which students are excited to attend. I will strive to continually raise the bar for an environment that is academically fun, positive and challenging,” said Wright.
Wright has been involved with public school systems for the past 16 years. Six of those years have been dedicated to MISD. Wright has been the Academic Associate Principal for Summit High School the past four years. He spent two years prior, as an Assistant Principal for Mansfield High School. “Mr. Wright's experience in the District and strong emphasis on academic performance will lend a great deal for high expectations,” said Superintendent of MISD Vernon Newsom. In addition, Wright has worked for other districts such as Irving ISD, Birdville ISD, H.E.B. ISD and Ector County School District.
Ector County is where Wright's career began. After graduating from Lubbock Christian University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, Wright taught science and coached at Bonham Junior High. Later in 1997, Wright received his Masters in Education from Texas A&M University-Commerce.
Wright's wife has taught for the district for eight years. They have two children who attend school in the district, a son in seventh grade and a daughter who will enter kindergarten next year. “I am proud to be in MISD, where my wife and I have made our home.” |
